By training young, motivated people, Montech is investing in the future. Our engagement enables young people to get a start in their professional lives and at the same time, provides the company with trained employees. We talk with Dominik Friedrich, professional trainer for EFZ design engineers, about Montech’s training program.

What kinds of training does Montech offer?

At Montech, young adults can complete three kinds of training: EFZ design engineer (four years), EFZ production mechanic (three years), and EFZ logistics specialist (three years). For people with learning differences, we also offer traineeships with EBA professional certification with a duration of two years, on request and if possible. Shorter traineeships are also an option, for example, for people completing a second training. Our training offerings are broad and flexible, which allows us to address individual needs and desires.

What are the benefits for Montech?

It’s becoming more difficult all the time to attract good specialists. By training specialists, Montech can ensure there is a pool of good, qualified employees now and for the future. The mix of experienced and less experienced employees is not just interesting, the company profits directly from it: The new generation brings new views and procedures and keeps Montech up-to-date.

How do you recruit talented people?

We look for talented people wherever they are. We participate in informational sessions and career days, advertise positions in schools, and advertise our training offerings on various platforms. At the moment, we’re quite successful. All traineeships for 2023 have been awarded and some people interested in positions in 2024 have already contacted us. This is not a matter of course. There were also years in which hardly anyone applied. We also try to offer people completing traineeships positions. Last year, we were able to offer two trainees permanent jobs. And, of course, the support doesn’t end with the end of the traineeship: We make every attempt to encourage our personnel, which is why we support all of our employees with further training.

What do trainees especially appreciate about Montech?

During their training, trainees are deployed in different departments. For example, they may help with the development of new products and get to know different methods and flows. This way, they get a general overview of the working world, and they are well-prepared for later. They also enjoy the same privileges as all other employees. They especially appreciate the family-like atmosphere and the flexibility of working hours and the work they do. Last but not least, the trainees take on their own tasks and responsibilities. The trust we place in them strengthens them and helps them advance.

What else would you like to say to the new generation?

Because our products are not tied to a specific industry, our trainees receive broad, general knowledge about the various tasks in their traineeship area. Insight into different industries gives them freedom for the future. Later, they can always specialize in an area of their choice. In addition to professional training, we try to increase trainees’ self-confidence and social skills. Together, we formulate suitable learning methods and show the young people how they can argue and express their opinions. We also help our trainees in difficult, tricky situations that are not always part of the training plan. Our traineeships really don’t follow the textbook strictly. Instead, we try to teach the professions holistically and encourage the personal development of these young people. Our goal is that the trainees should get to know themselves better during their training and therefore mature.

And finally: Why should talented young people complete their training at Montech?

Many trainees’ first contact with the working world is through a traineeship. At this age, many of them don’t know what awaits them and what kind of work they want to do. Thanks to the broad insight into various industries, there are a lot of opportunities to consider their own ideas and desires and to check these against new impressions and adjust if necessary. Because the trainees are incorporated into daily business at Montech, they have their own areas of responsibility early on. This way, they learn to organize themselves and do their work conscientiously. And don’t forget: Montech is always at the forefront of technology. Thanks to our advanced tools for customers and employees, our trainees are always learning about the latest technologies.
